Hey all, just wanted to show the results of my recent chipping clearcoat caliper repair and how I went about doing it. All in all, it’s an easy job that should keep the paint from further fading and damage for years. Also I found a PERFECT touch up paint match for our calipers. I’ll link the Amazon product below.
Tools you’ll need You’re gonna want to clean up the calipers the best you can. Any brake dust left will either cause the Clearcoat to not adhere or will trap the dust under it forever! So spend the time cleaning the calipers and doing the prep work. That’s most of the job anyways! You can see the paint peeling and chips. Luckily Porsche Guards Red is a PERFECT match for the calipers. I’ll link the touch up paint below. Cleaned up and paint repaired Now mask all areas to avoid overspray. Don’t forget to cover the paintwork too! After a few coats here are the results! 4-5 coats each side is plenty. All the paint cracks and chips are gone! They look great behind the OEM AMG 20”s!
