When I start up the truck, every 3-5 minutes, it will lock up (audio stops (on all sources), buttons stop responding etc., and about 30 seconds later, it will reboot itself. This happens for 4 or 5 cycles, before stabilizing and being fine for the rest of the drive. I cleared the error buffer in the Engineering Menu, and this error appears. Any one else have/seen something similar? I have COMAND NTG 4.5. Thanks in advance.
What about a software update? Does it say anything about that? My ML is in the shop now for a recall software update.
What is scary is it says "ECU " referring to the computer in the engine.

Shouldn't need a software update, even if there is one. It's a last year ML. My dad's 2012 ML's COMAND never needed an update and is still running just fine. But I will ask.
Re: the ECU, yes, scary, but odd thing is 3 months ago, dealer couldn't clear a MAF code the truck kept throwing, even after a new sensor, so ended up replacing the entire ECU, all under warranty. This doesn't feel tied to the ECU given COMAND is the only thing affected.
I need to do a full scan of the truck this am, too.
too weird -- did unplugging your gps connection on the back of COMAND remedy it?
I don't know how to do that. Mine is a 2012 E63 that I just bought last week. I called a shop this morning, they told me another customer had just called in with the same complaint. I started a thread in the W212 forum and two other members said this started yesterday on theirs, just like yours.
Have 2 2013 W166s and both are having the exact same issue which started yesterday afternoon. My MB center says more than 20 similar calls have come in today. I didn’t have a clue that I could still take an OTA update. My W221 and W222 are not having any similar symptoms fwiw.

dear lord -- if MB denies any of this, we know how this ends.
Damn my 2015 ML is in for recall work. Could this be why it is taking so long? I wish I had the car to see if this is happening. I had no idea that MB even offered over the air updates and all. I thought only Tesla had that.

It was a wild guess. Had a odd issue with my W212 E550 when I had it. Dealer updated software and boom fixed. Good luck! Keep us posted please.
IF everybody has Sirius that has this problem.................them I'd blame Sirius.
My 2014 started doing this yesterday and again today. Pressing the OFF button near the cups resulted in nothing happening. The system went tru a reboot.......I assume......and the radio/cd started working again.
I WAS thinking battery(s) but now I'm assuming Sirrius messing things up. I have no Merceds aps whatsoever to cause this.

Many, including myself, seem to have the issue resolved. Some have said it was a SiriusXM update, but no official word from MB, even after tweeting their official account.
Verrry Interesting... My 2015 ML/350 Head unit started freezing and locking up this week, first it changes the song I'm listening to (USB or SD Card), Then it freezes up, (can't turn it off or change sources or do anything), then it goes dark, then the clock appears, then it starts up again and begins playing a different song.
has this screen given you any issues? My radio stopped working. Wondering if screen and its harness caused this. I saw you posted on another thread to check fuse behind radio. I might do that next. You know exactly where it is ?

Last time that happened, I was told it had something to do with some sort of command Sirius sent. Several days later, presumable after Sirius resent a command, this issue resolved.
