Help! My car has been acting up and the shop said I need a new A89 Distronic Control Unit, the unit is $2400. I found a used unit local to me, tried it and still having issues. Are the A89 units coded to each vehicle or is it a plug and play system?

Is there a way to CODE the vehicle to disable distronic but enable regular cruise control? I don't care for the distronic feature but do like cruise.

I plug in a second hand unit and it work without any further coding. I guess it is plug and play. Scan and check the message. Clear all the error log and run. Finger cross it work. If not either the fault in the new unit or you have different issue than the A89 unit.
