ML350BT 2013, dpf regen.

Hello, im a owner of a 2013 ML350BT, 100.000km on the clock.

I think the dpf active regeneration starts to often, about every 100-150km. The car is orginal, and there is no black smoke from the car. I dont think the dpf is clogged or destroyed. I think the often regeneration is un-nessesary, and starts by fault. Star also say there is no sot in dpf. I hear regeneration starts because rpm goes up, engine fan starts and a deeper sound from exhaust.

The only code star diag tell me is, there is a fault at the EGT sensor (exhaust gas temprature sensor). This sensor is located at the exhaust manifold, upstream turbocharger.

The code not say high or low temperature, only fault, signal implausible.

Can this bad EGT sensor be the reason for the dpf regeneration starts so often?

regards
Norway

I have replaced a few weeks ago temperature sensor which it is a common problem. I got problem that regeneration didn't occur often and it triggered my research. The replacement was free of charge under extended warranty in Canada (only).I spoke to a service technician and he told me that they have a lot of cars with a similar problems.

A,
Hmm... How often did your regn start with this bad sensor?? And, after you replaced, did it make any change?

I had the same temp sensor BS same as Zemun1234. Mine is also a Canadian vehicle. You really have to be on top of MB, otherwise they'll help themselves to your wallet...! I suggest you verify codes before a visit to the dealership, then search the emission warranty clauses! They were just going to go ahead and fix/charge me for it, until I 'enlightened' them... LOL!

I'm not sure why one would worry about regen happening 'too often'. I'd worry if it did NOT happen.

Each time the regenerate occur, temp increase very high and then cool down. It is not good for car parts.

Hello😊 I have a update, the "frequent regen" problem is solved👍 Now regen happans about every 500km for city driving, and aboat every 1000km for long therm driving. There was no codes, dealer say, its normal. "Thats the way the car is". But i was not happy with the dealers answare. I talked to a Germany om642 expert. He said fuel injectors atomazion could be the problem. I replaced all six fuel injectors, and regen cyclus imediately stretched to 400% longer / more. So, my learning, do not listen to MB dealer. As long no codes are shown at star / xentry they say: your car is fine. Im so happy for solving this nigthmare.
