I am planning on buying ML W166 but I can see differences in the instrument panel from the models 2012 to 2014 year, ones are colorful the other are black and white.
Is this feature updatable from black and white to colorful or hardware must be changed? I have seen on the ads ML with all of the additional options with black and white panel, and others with very few options from the additional but the instrument panel is colorful.

Anything is doable with enough time/money. But is it really worth the trouble? My 2013 has the color panel. Oh, and try to stay clear of the diesels. For your own sake.
Not sure what mercedes was thinking putting in that 1999 looking display into a MY12, only to then change it the year after. I have not researched anyone changing it out, but it would only be realistic if a used 2013+ cluster could be wiped, then somehow programmed to your car.

plus 1, I think its the version of comand that needs to be updated, thats why the older style is showing.
If you really want to update, I have seen AMG instrument panels for sale. I think I have seen them on eBay and also the guy in Sweden/Denmark who is update his ML350 to GLE350 Id love to have it in my ML350
