Question Oil Consumption

Hello, so I have been using Liqui Moly 4600 5-30 engine oil for a long time on my W166 ML350 Bluetec and it consumes almost no oil. Then I put Shell 5-30 in and it consumed about 25 oz or 700 ml oil in 8000 km. The Shell oil was not in a bottle but in one of those big barrels, so could that make any difference? (which I don't think is the case unless the dealer lied to me). I know the oil consumption is normal, but I did not know Liqui Moly was so much better than Shell. So I was wondering has anyone else experienced this or is it just me?

Ml350 bluetec
Some questions come to mind:
  1. How many miles on the engine?
  2. Did you check the oil after the change to Shell 5-30? And therefore you actually started with the correct level?
  3. Do you check oil regularly at each oil change?
  4. Are they any oil leaks underneath?
  5. Are their any signs of oil leaks in the engine compartment?

86k miles on the engine
I checked it at the dealership right after the oil change as it should be done and I check my oil regularly
no leaks at all

The weather gets hot where I live so I guess Shell can't handle high temperatures like Liqui Moly? they are both 5-30 though
