Struts and shocks.
I’ve ordered a used factory hitch for my ‘14 ML350 for hauling mountain bikes and a tiny trailer for our kayaks…
Since it has 80k on the original suspension, I plan on replacing the shocks while I have the rear interior apart for the hitch install…
Bilstein seems to be the preferred/more common route… Can anyone share thoughts, recommendations or experiences regarding the B4 or B6? Or any other brand/model for that matter…
The car is used 95% of the time running 70-85mph on the West Virginia highways, with a few trips around town…barely any backroads excursions…

The question I have, I remember in the old days, people would put the so called heavy duty shocks on the front and normal ie factory shocks on the rear. I never hear about this any more.
keep us posted on what you do and welcome to the site. Also, its good to hear of someone who is on their 3rd ML, must be a pretty good car

Pelican was out of stock. So I ordered from autohausaz, the order got canceled as they were out of stock.
Googled and saw that advance auto parts carried them at a higher price…checked and they wouldn’t price match. So I then stopped by autozone, the computer showed them to be in stock and a good price, three days later I ran by…no shocks… the vendor cancelled the order, and now they show no stock. So to eBay, found a good seller with 4 pairs remaining…ordered these…30 minutes later this order was cancelled. Uggh.
Searched again, found yet another pair and ordered it around 3pm…kept watching the item…4pm. Nothing, 6pm nothing, 11pm nothing…next morning, nothing…noon comes around and I get a tracking number!!!
now they are in the hands of FedEx…showing they will arrive by Sunday eve…
not in a hurry as I am waiting on a factory hitch to arrive via freight from California…I only want to rear the rear interior apart once…I also have a tekonsha 4 plug trailer light kit coming from etrailer…replaces the hack-n-tap connectors with a sensor to preserve the integrity of the factory wiring.
The next obstacle will be finding time!
looks like it will be another hot day in my garage in the near future. And find a competent local alignment joint!!! Hopefully I find some positive reviews…I’ve aligned independent suspension before using string tape measure and an angle locator…but my eyes and patience aren’t what they were 20’years ago!!!

If they are the same length, and they bolt straight in with no adjustment… then I may forgo the alignment…

now to enjoy her for a few months…then search for new tires and a battery before winter. The battery has a date of 13 on the terminal, but the carpet has been cut.

where you able to source the Bilsteins from.
also, did you install the front struts yourself or have someone else. Did you replace the Front strut bearing mount/upper steering bearing when you replaced the shock.
Keep us posted. I closely behind you but will probably get Independent garage to install them.
