MY FEET
ML400 OWNERS

Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I own an ML400. I am constantly researching for details, upgrades, information and any other ideas other ML400 owners may have and what their experiences have been. If anyone wants to share info specific to the ML400 I would welcome the input. I think its the greatest ML ever, sorry Mercedes decided to discontinue the series. I bought my first ML in 1998, the year they were introduced in the USA. I used my ML320 like a jeep. It never got stuck and went everywhere I wanted it to go. I look forward to hearing for other ML400 owners.
Thank you,
Mike

Aye another ML400 owner! Just got mine

Right now the wiring is a bit of a mess, and I'm just sorting that

The timing covers appear to be leaking, and need to do some dent removal but in terms of upgrades I'm thinking of just updating the maps on the car, ILS to EU coding, Cooled Cup Holder Retrofit.

Got the roof rack for the car so far, plan to pain correct the whole car and graphene coat it, and tint the front windows with XPEL

you should learn how to use the epc. Faster than me pulling for you.

PN is 166 680 62 02 for the unit itself.
There is another thread here I am part of re wiring the unit. You can tap into pre-existing 12v and ground or buy proper harness cable which should be A1664405006.

Sometimes that cable pops up on eBay, other get from dealer. Difference in proper harness vs splice is the unit powers up when ambient light is triggered by unlock of doors, and powers down properly after shutdown. Otherwise, unit gets hard shut down when I think it not good for circuitry.

If you use correct loom, you will also have to fish new wire for ambient light in center console storage compartment which is a PITA to do, and need to be patient, otherwise risk damage rear air vents. If you go slow, do it right, and use proper parts you'll feel satisfied that it wasn't jerry rigged, and as close to a dealer install without the price of their damn labor.

Oh what timing, someone decided to tap into my wiring and I need to replace the loom in the centre console.

Thank you for the info.

lol, someone decided to tap into the centre console wiring (I believe the same harness) for an aftermarket rear entertainment system. I took apart the centre console armrest and and rear air vent panel. I haven’t bothered to put it back yet

Car currently... A bunch of shorted wires from wrongly placed fuses, and aftermarket wiring from a rear entertainment system. Retrofitting cupholders is coming soon. And possibly ILS coding. Planning to also get Osram D1S Cool Blue Boost, to match my facelift ILS led headlights.

Got the cup holders installed by someone else, an MB Retrofit place, When I unlock the car it does not light up, I don't know if it necessarily does a hard shut down, but it does not light up when I unlock the car. I'm not too sure what OEM looks like.

then you didn't follow my advice and will short circuit eventually. Cutting off the power to a heating/cooling element without allowing it to do the proper cool-down process will lead to inevitable premature motor burn out. You were warned.
