Rumble When stepping on the gas - 2012 ML350
I have been chasing an issue in my wife's 2012 ML350. When the accelerator is depressed, the car seems to rumble (and struggle to accelerate) for a short period of time until the acceleration is constant, or I take my foot off the accelerator, this only happens when i am lightly accelerating. If I am aggressive with the car I never have the problem. I replaced the spark plugs and the ignition coils (all 6) and still have the same issue. I did a transmission flush ~25K miles ago as well. Not sure what to check next. I never see the problem once the car is at a steady speed, or notice anything when decelerating.
Thanks for any thoughts.
Jason
Pop the hood and stand and watch while an assistant blips the throttle with the engine idling. If the engine moves more than normal or than you think it should, engine or transmission mounts are suspect. MB mounts are relatively low age/mileage items.
Another possibility is propshaft rubber joints/biscuits/couplings. If the engine mount test is inconclusive, crawl under the car and look carefully and closely with a bright flashlight at the propshaft flex couplings.
