Liftgate Issue Continued............

Liftgate Issue Continued............
The liftgate on my ml350 stopped working, so I ordered an aftermarket pair of struts assuming that was the issue. After replacing them, the liftgate still did not work. My local MB mechanic told me he almost never has had to replace the struts on this model and assumes it is something else.
After investigating further and when I press the button to close the liftgate, I can hear a click in a small box near the rear cargo area that I identified as the Liftgate Control Module (MB P/N: A1669006311). That has to be the issue since it clearly isn't struts, correct?
As usual, any help from you all is greatly appreciated.

liftgate interior button
key fob button
Verify all the buttons create a reaction. New battery in the key fob. You have new struts.
It’s down to the latch or the module, if all of the buttons work from the test above. Have your mechanic scan with XENTRY. There will be codes or errors if the module is bad. Probably also if the latch is bad.
