Aftermarket front camera and ambient lighting
Hi. I have a 2014 ML350. I purchased an aftermarket Android screen from Avin. Now I want to install a front parking camera and ambient lighting. Im not sure how to set it up and where to tap the wires into.
The camera works but only as a rear camera when I change the settings from OEM to Aftermarket camera. Is there any way to trigger the camera with any android app or with clicking any oem button? Where should I tap the wires to?
I purchased a full ambient kit from Aliexpress. I am not sure where should I tap the control unit to. Can I use any wiring in the center console?

you can get w166 specific aftermarket ambient lighting that replaces the dash panels and door panel inserts. Looks and functions exactly like OEM. You can even connect it to the OEM connectors and get it added using Xentry in the engineering menus so you can use the own steering wheel menu to control it. And it’s 12 color instead of 3 color and it’s brighter. Not sure what the dealership would charge for that though and if they even know how to do it. The only issue is that it costs about $1000 to buy the parts online from China. You can even get the burmester led motorized speakers that rotate and lift up etc. it’s all pretty expensive though. They are the same guys that make the 3 color to 12 color upgrade kits for Mercedes. At least that’s way cheaper because you only have to replace some controllers and wiring.

What doesn’t work that way? Please explain. Haha. What do all the OEM parts at Mercedes cost? I guarantee it’s more than $1000 for the wood dash and door panels with the light tubes and the LEDs with all the wiring etc. I upgraded my 2014 ML550 from the stock 3 color to the 12 color ambient lighting so I’ve done a bit of research.

i was going to say yea go with @we47b1me and @Chris The Swede . WB47 did an ambient lighting mod, and Chris "CKM" sells the dash pieces specific for package 870.
Otherwise, do your homework and find the one that has it, its really not that hard to find out whether or not the car has it.
Oh, and about the front grille camera. The ones you see are part of the Surround-View-Camera system. You will not only need the front camera, you'll need both side mirror housings with the camera, but the rear camera. You'll need to reprogram comand to make sure it even works. Major PITA to do that.
My advice, just learn what to look for when looking for the packages you want.
Otherwise, do your homework and find the one that has it, its really not that hard to find out whether or not the car has it.
