X166 vs W166 ?

X166 vs W166 ?
Given how close the chassis numbers are, trying to utilize the search features to find similar discussions has not yielded positive results. So here's my goal:
- I don't need a daily
- I want a OM642 diesel powered model
- This will simply be a utility/work vehicle, so creature comforts are not a concern
- Family hauler is not a concern
- The vehicle will basically be my truck, and will be beat to **** hauling inside and out

2014 ML550 AMG package
The GL is bigger. Longer and bigger. I’ve got a 2014 ML550 and my friend has a 2013 GL350 and his is visually much larger and more room In the back if you are hauling stuff around. They come with pretty much the same available options and they drive the same.

a GLE300D on the W166 chasis. there is also GL350 BT model as well.
the W166 chasis of the ML (gas variant) is a power master. Has V6 power and a 4matic with a tow can tow alot from my understanding. I drove it for 3 years, and I had no major issues.
As long as you take care of it, It will take care of you. However, the only thing you'll need to consider is the cost of gas. My commute made me refill once every 6 days.
Cant really say on the X166 variant of the GL or GLS. the GLS has no diesel variant. You will need to ask that thread specifically. The only thing I could offer is that the GL variant is 8 cylinders and it comes with standard 4matic and can tow something big too (As the ML can).

MB’s of all kinds.
Either that or a van. Too much money tied up just to beat it up. Why pay the high upkeep on a vehicle that will only get trashed.
