W166 Help needed Strange problem
Hello Guys,
Im the proud owner of the W166 with the 350 Bluetec engine, drives like a dream with air suspension even with the
21 inch tyres. year 2014 110.000 Kilometers.
its been a month back when my problem first accured and ill try and explain it to you
When we drive the car in 6-7 gear around 1100-1600 rpm (slow cruise) the engine or transmision stalls en bumps hard for
a few times (it Jerks) en then drives normal again. it only bumps back and forth in this rpm range.
When i try to reproduce the symptoms it almost always does it going in to a tunnel down.
Cold or Hot transmision or motor makes no difference.
When i step on the gas it is gone!!
It has been to my dealer 3 times now (mercedes/porsche specialist) and they cant find any codes or reason, the first time there was a
code for a EGR malfuction so a made them replace it for a original one, with no difference.
The car is very well maintained and i have had a transmission oil service 6 months ago, this oil is still brand new.
I also asked to reprogram the transmission 6 months ago because of rough shifting, it has been smooth since then.
It really feels like someone is fiddling with the ignition when driving a Gas powered car
Can you guys give me a few pointers or advice before we replace the transmission

Read through this site. The OM642 Bluetec engine has a history of many problems. Reading this site will help you find a path to a solution. Also try bringing the vehicle to an independent repair shop for an initial diagnosis.

I may have something similar going on, except this only happens for me when the engine is dead cold and the transmission is shifting from 1st to 2nd. Same RPM range, but you can feel the engine "misfire" and it's very jerky for a few seconds. My current theory is around a clogged swirl flap from carbon that's causing turbulence in the intake, have you taken a look at your intake?
