Alabama boy gives das Germans the offroad Tour!

This is one of my favorite videos on youtube, a real southern gentleman showing off the capability of our incredible W166.

Video starts later at the impressive steep hill decent part, but feel free to watch any part you'd like.

Enjoy!

166 is a very capable off road platform, even without the Off Road Engineering package. Not many people are aware of this, and even fewer people utilize the platform's capabilities.

Thanks for posting.

Totally agree! And to be so quiet and comfortable on highway road trips at the same time, it's really amazing to me that these cars aren't more highly appreciated for the rule-breaking abilities they were built with. Sure the millionaires love the G wagon, but even it's not all that comfy in real world use. This little ML (or if you'd like to pay more the GLE) is an incredible car! They really hit it out of the park with our W166.
I will be an old old man one day, spending $100k on a gently used ML just because I can remember how awesome they were. That same nostalgia that has old folks buying Stingray convertibles for $80k when they cost $10k new, is the same nostalgia I'm already accepting that I'll experience in 40 or so years for these 166s. lol
It's a thumbs up from me, such great cars!

Very correct! Also, so many people like to think these are just nice crossovers. They are SUV’s are they can get dirty.

My wife wanted a G Wagon for ever. That is all I hear about. Finally I said to her let’s go drive one and you can finally see what it is like. The ride home in our ML she was not saying too much
