Drivers seat cover replacement. Is this a DIY project?
Has anyone replied their as a DIY project? What suppliers could supply this over? Any real problematic issues when doing this?
Is this something best left to a dealer?
I do NOT want to put a sheepskin or other cover on this. I prefer the OEM look.
TIA!

From there the code for the color and fabric will be clear. Then, search for the cover online. There are 3rd party suppliers as well.
Look up the WIS instructions and it is quite easy. From what I recall, you take off the side plastic panels on the seat bottom, remove the seat spring/pad/cushion, then replace the 'cover'.
Buy the OEM cover it isn't outrageously expensive. It will fit and look perfect. I did mine 3 years ago and you can't tell it isn't original even after using it for the last 3 years. Colour matches perfectly. Make SURE to order by VIN number because it is a different part number for each colour of leather, whether you have heated seats, cooled seats, or both. Massage seats make a difference too I believe. You need to order by VIN as the wrong cover won't fit or work. I would buy from one of the online MB dealers that sells parts (not a 3rd party site). Google "OEM Mercedes parts" and find the ones that are actual MB dealers. FCP Euro or RM European could probably get it too but I'd stick with dealers.
The toughest part is removing the metal "clips" that look like staples. They hold the leather to the frame. I have used 'hog ring' pliers before (google it and buy a pair if you want). This time I made it way easier and just cut them off with a decent sized pair of cutters (use eye protection as they will fly everywhere!) Reassembled with zip ties instead of the clips and everything works perfectly.

I googled OEM MB parts and a L-A-R-G-E number of options came up. Suggested vendors for this purchase?
Thanks again.
