2015 ML350 W166 -FUSE for Right Rear Radar Sensor comm & car start issue
also, does anyone know the actual part numbers needed to replace the Outer Right Rear Intelligent Radar Sensor and the module ? Vin 4JGDA5HB9FA448933
My car developed starting issues and was throwing alot of low voltage issue DTC codes. The MB dealership isolated it to bad battery + suspects a short in the circuit because it is not receiving comms from the right rear radar sensor and they thought that could be causing the car to have trouble starting and might be draining the battery. Battery got replaced yesterday and they are clearing the codes and rerunning the diagnostic as I write. This all started after I had pulled a trailer cross country after which I began to receive ‘ Blind Spot Assist Inoperable’ displayed on my dash. Then the car began having issues starting. Push button stopped working but if you use the key and talk real nice, it starts. Once started it runs fine.
The thing is MB dealership has quoted $2300 to replace the rear radar sensor + wiring harness but said they have to remove the rear bumper to access it — and—- they are not 100% that will fix the car start issue.
I am only paying the MB dealership to run the diagnostic. SO… I would like to check the fuses myself in case that is the issue and then try to squeeze my hand up there and replace the radar sensor myself without removing the rear bumper to save money.
As an aside, I do not have a DTC code reader but if anyone can recommend an affordable and reliable one that will work with an iPad…. maybe it’s time.
I have always loved to tinker but often my confidence exceeds my skillset and I do not have the tools to work on my car much beyond cosmetic. I just like to stay very informed so mechanics can tell that and not try to do more than is required.
Thanks in advance.
