'12 ML350 Bluetec - DPF fluid into Diesel Tank, mistakes were made
Hello, everyone I'm looking for some advise to correct my dumb mistake. By mistake placed DPF fluid into my diesel tank and now the car has issues such engine light on along with rough idling and surging. When this first occured, and soon after I realized what I had done, I didn't start the car at all and had it towed to my local Benz dealer (What a mistake and rip off that wa$). They charged me an arm an a leg to drop the tank to clean it, and emptied it of a full tank along with 2.5 gallons of DPF, to "the best of their abilities", at the dealer, they also put a new fuel filter and to make the story short, the car run okay for a couple of days until I got a check engine light, the car then began to rattle more than usual (since I was also scheduled to replace the transmission and motor mounts). Of course I took the vehicle right back to the dealer and had them recheck it, but they only cleared the codes, updated some software and when I picked it up there was no engine light on and it run somewhat better, though they told me they road test it for 30 miles. That day after picking the car from them it run about 10 miles and the check engine light was back on along with the rough running/idling, so I went back to let them know the issues I was having, thru the conversation we had the guy slipped and said that they had sucked all the fluid out, but immediately corrected himself saying that they did drop the tank, but could get to all the parts since the access point is very small. His suggestion to me was to have the car's fuel systemtem thoroughly check to find out what was causing the clog and that I may end up needing to replace the entire fuel system.
So, I'm writing here in the hopes that someone had heard if not gone thru the same mistake in order to have any recommendations as how to proceed to get a good result so I can get this otherwise great car back on the road, without having to mortgage the house. Can a diesel additive assist on cleaning the jets or fuel system and could it help cleaning other items in the tank? Please help if you can, and know that your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Ed.
