2013 ML 350 Headlight Errors
I have a 2013 ML350 4Matic with the Halogen light option. Recently, I have an issue where the halogen lights (Driver and Passenger side) start to flash when daylight starts to turn to dusk, or light quickly goes to dark. For example, when I go into a parking deck from daylight, the headlights turn on like normal, and then the driver side will flash a few times and turn off, giving me the bulb out error, followed by the passenger side. If I turn the car off, and back on in the parking deck, the lights work perfectly normal. The same situation happens when I am driving home after work and the sun starts to set. The lights will turn on, work perfect for a few minutes, then start to flash and give the bulb out messages. However, if I am leaving once the sun is already down and it is black out, the lights work perfectly normal. Same situation when it starts to rain and the sky is not too dark. Even if I turn the light switch manually into "on" in daylight, the bulbs will go out, but work perfectly at night.
I have had the vehicle for over 150K miles and this issues just started recently the past few weeks. I have tried to replace the bulbs and make sure the sensor on the windshield is clean from the glass. Yet, the issue still persists. Bulbs are perfectly fine. Vehicle is fully stock, so I cannot figure out what is causing the issue. I believed it may be the light sensor in the windshield, but it is worth noting that when the low beam goes out, the DRL and parking lights continue to work as they should when the night lights are on. This leads me to believe the sensor is working fine and the issue may be somewhere else.
I know that was a lot of information, but any knowledge on the subjects or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
