P0455-Does it go away

On Saturday I was driving around when I noticed my check engine light come on. I kept driving for a few miles then finally pulled into a parking lot to grab groceries. I had a hunch that it may be a lose fuel cap (It has happened multiple times in the past). I open the gas tank and the fuel cap was indeed lose, almost to a point where it was barley even attached. I tightened it up past 3 turns but the light stayed on.
On Sunday I went to AutoZone since they have those free code readers. It was in fact P0455.

I do not have an OBD code reader so I am wondering what is the best way to clear the code so the light goes away? Will AutoZone be able to delete it for me (I heard they no longer clear codes and only read them)

Will the light eventually go away once pressure builds up in the tank?

I can't say for sure on a MB but on a Ford that code will self clear after a few normal start stop cycles. I'd wager money MB is the same.

They CEL should go away after a few cycles, but if you scan it deeply they will be a STORED code with the mileage of when it occurred.

With a MB specific scanner, you can delete both states of the code: STORED, and/or CURRENT

It would be worth getting an MB-specific scanner. The current trend seems to be:
1 - Launch Creader Elite X431 Bidirectional, with cable, $160 on Amazon
Launch Creader Elite X431 Launch Creader Elite X431

2 - Autel AP200, $60, Bluetooth, initialize it for Benz only but unidirectional
Autel AP200 Autel AP200

3 - XEntry setup, this is the MB original software, but perhaps you are not interested on a more elaborate system

If you plan to keep the vehicle for long, it will trigger some code at some point, for example a misfire. You can pre-diagnose it, and save the headache of going to the dealer. The autozone scanner will give you only top level information, no MB details of the problem.
