Suspension malfunction help!!

Hi,
I have a 2012 ML350 (W166) and I have been having a few issues (namely a transmission problem on another threat)
Another recent problem I’m having is when I start up the engine it says there is a malfunction on the suspension, the little graphic stays on right from the start, the cars sitting very low, we had it on a diagnostic machine to check the air suspension to try and get them within the correct parameters, 3 of the struts we could move up or down, but the front drivers side would only go down, and we couldn’t get it to raise, and the fact that’s lower than ever I think the cars self levelled from the front drivers side height. Any suggestions? Is it a new air strut? Could it be something and nothing or could it be one of a multitude of different things?
Thank you.

I have a 2013 ML63 and in the space of 6 months I have had both side suspension air bags go on me. Each side had to be replaced and was very very expensive. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your description sounds suspiciously the same as what happened to mine.

Took 6 weeks to get the part here in Australia. Hopefully easier wherever you are.

Good luck.

i have already replaced the airbags on the back and it wasn’t to bad, but when you go on the diagnostic you have to set the parameters for each wheel, both back and the passenger side I could raise or lower to get to the right parameters, but the drivers side it wouldn’t raise, it would lower but not raise back up and i needed it to raise to get within the parameters, and now it’s gone low all the the other corners self level to the drivers side height, just wondered if it’s the strut that needs to be replaced or if it could be a sensor? The compressor works okay because it raises and lowers the other 3 corners.
thanks

Are you using Xentry? Its pretty amazing in its ability to pinpoint problems. I don't have experience with Mercedes air spring systems but I have years of Towncar experience. You could have an air solenoid failure, a sensor failure, a strut failure or just a bad electrical connection somewhere. Firing the parts cannon is going to be the most expensive way to solve your problem. If I had to guess I'd put the electrical connection at the top of the list followed by an air solenoid. I'd say a strut failure is the least likely. If you aren't using Xentry you need to.
