USB thumbdrive music question

USB thumbdrive music question
I frequently add music files to my USB stick but some recent adds won't play in the car. They show up in a search but if selected the next file plays. If I play files in sequence and hit next, next, next, I'll see the artist and song title for a brief moment before it skips to the next one. I assumed they were just corrupted files but they do play in multiple computers, Mac, Windows 10, and a Chromebook. I'm stumped.....

The files were all saved as .mp3; I used an online tool to convert YouTube video audio to mp3. When I check Properties in Windows 10 (or Get Info on the Mac) it says "MP3 AUDIO", and while they do play on the Windows laptop it turns out they DO NOT play on the Mac! And, oddly enough, Get Info on the Chromebook it says "Type: video/mp4" for the .mp3 files that don't play in the car (or the Mac) but they do play on the Chromebook (in Gallery)!

Yes, it is an issue with the file itself, specifically with the encoding type and/or bitrate used by the codec during the encoding / conversion.
