305 X 40 X 22" Tyres

Hi Folk's Looking at moving to the above tyre size from 285 X 35 X 22" to the .......305 X 40 X 22" any body gone down that road,and will it need wheel spats or whatever they call it these days

Going from 285 35 22 to 305 40 22 is a very big jump. Not only are the tires much wider and are likely too wide for the wheels, they are also much taller, so there will be much more tire sidewall flex and there could also be clearance problems. As if that's not enough, the speedometer will read low.

What vehicle is this for? Your profile says W166 ML250 AMG, but to my knowledge, MB didn't offer a 22" wheel on these models. Did you replace the wheels? If you go on the website for the tires you are looking at, it will suggest the recommended wheel width, which is probably11".
