ML350 BT 2014 Clunking from front end under power
I have a clunk clunk clunk in the front end under power sounds likes a slipping spline, no noise when hard turning slow left or right.
Thought it might have bee a engine mount so replaced the left one. Still the same on thinking it is rhythmic bang bang bang
Also have what feel like ABD cutting in sometimes under braking on the RHS Front, also a front wheel wobble like out of balance around 110k but not balance. .
Checked the speed sensors not issues with live data all looks ok, no codes
Obviously something going on down there
I would think CV's would show on turns although if it was locking under power that what it would sound and feel like I suppose
definite sounds metallic
Any ideas would be appreciated?
Dont want to throw the towel in and go to the dealer but might have to.
Most all the models use the same chain and there was an upgraded version. look for the colored links
If you do a bit a of research its a fairly common thing to find. There is a couple of good You Tube vids on it.
We did it in the driveway in about 6 hrs. Would be easy as if you had a hoist. Merc wont do it as they sell complete transfer cases.
It is not that difficult hardest part is wiggling the case cover off, some say take the whole thing out.
Check out you tube.

Terry
