W166 - 2013 ML 350 Base
Upper Oil Pan Procedure

I am a B Technician, at a Pep Boys, nobody at any shop I have ever worked as is very familiar with them so I took the opportunity to be that guy + my mother drives one and I dont trust others to do my parents right.. so, there is a sensor just above the upper oil pan that somehow broke.. possibly during one of my repairs, I am really not sure. So it threw a CEL, and I wanted to fix the sensor.. although nobody can seem to tell me what it is.. I also am taking the opportunity to change the oil pump, pick up assembly & sensor inside the upper pan. If anybody could fill me in on the what sensor is above the upper oil pan on the front of the motor to the left and slightly underneath of the Crank as you are looking at the front of the vehicle. I also need the procedure to remove the upper oil pan/oil pump/pick up assembly.. it is a 2013, 2wd base model, rwd.. I am very mechanically inclined and set on doing this.. Mitchell1 was really no help at all.. AllData sucks imo.. I have access to both.. and I am not a fan. Sorry for the grammar, its 2 am and I have an hour ride home.. still need a shower and I got to ride back this way at 5 am (3 hours away) to work.. Really need to know if the motor is going to need to be pulled or the subframe bc I will likely get it towed to the shop if thats the case... pictures below..

Thanks for all the help/time taken to read through this post.. very tired and this will soon be my truck.. so i plan to keep it for a very long time.. it has a lot of memories & sentimental value.

If it’s an M276 or M278 or M157
Looks to be the oil solenoid, leave it disconnected it reduces the oil pressure of the engine to 2 bar instead of 4 bar under 3000rpm.
Myself and a lot of others have disconnected it. Never seen one broken before though so just check the oil pressure is a 4bar and not stuck at 2 bar.

What about the check Engine light?
Light? Can you not just tune it to push 2 bar instead of 4?

Needs to have 4 bar over 3000 rpm for piston oilers to work.
normally won’t throw an engine light but just a code. Make sure you don’t have a short in the plug.

Looks like the rubber may be torn on the harmonic balancer. May want to inspect it.
