2012 ML 350 with 93K. I've got the stored code for the Bank 1 intake phaser out of tolerance, but no check engine light. I have a start up rattle and am planning to install new Bank 1 intake phaser and both Bank 1 and 2 updated secondary chain tensioners and check valves.
I want to access the back of the Bank 1 intake cam to counterhold for the removal and install of the new phaser. Don't want to unnecessarily stress the new phaser or cam pin.
Here's the question... I looks like I can just remove the heat shield, HPFP and HPFP housing without removing the valve cover, fuel rails, injectors and coils.
Is this possible? Does this make sense or should I just go ahead and remove everything?
