P001685 after a bunch of valvetrain parts and careful reassembly...WTF???
So, I started a thread last week about my 2012 93K mile ML350 with a M276.9 that had a start up rattle, a stored P001177 DTC and no check engine light. Upon teardown, found that the Bank 1 cam adjuster was toast so it got a new Bank 1 cam adjuster, new cam solenoids, new cam position sensors, check valves and the updated cam tensioners. After assembly, when at 53 degrees after TDC ignition, all the 4 reluctor wheels aligned perfectly in the CPS holes. I actually bought a bank 1 intake cam in case my old cam's reluctor wheel had shifted. It had not. Put the engine back together today and it started up and ran great. Totally smooth idle and pulled strongly from a stop to 6,500 RPM in 1st and 2nd. After running for 10 minutes, check engine light came on – P001685 – Bank 1 intake cam implausible with crank.
I'm assuming there is still a timing problem, but Bank 1 cam adjuster is new, the intake cam reluctor has not moved when compared to a brand new cam and the reluctor wheel aligned in the CPS hole as it should. Kinda out of ideas. If I can't figure it out, this will be my first and last MB.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks...Steve.
