SOS!!!!!! CAR HAS A "CHIRP SOUND"

SOS!!!!!!!!!!! I have a 2003 cl55 amg. I brought the car last year,l had the car checked bye mercedes an it came back with a clean bill of health.I HAVE NOTICED THIS"CHIRP SOUND"

.The on board dash display' "no malfunction".I had the transmission serviced last summer. The last service i had the mechanic informed me that i had 5200 miles to go,for the next MAJOR SERVICE.The car has 47,200 on the dash.A good friend of mines asked a mercedes mechanic an he said that it's common with the cl55,then another said that it was the SUPER CHARGER CLUTCH.Please can someone inform me with this i'm really SCARED to go to the dealer an they tell me some crazy amount.

It most likely the clutch pack. Search the W211 AMG forum for "Chirp" It's I believe it's about an $800 repair at the dealer. I am getting mine done tomorrow I'll post an update when I get the final cost when I pick the car up on Friday.

Good news...

I got my car back... No chirp or whistle at idle.

Bad news...

$240 Labor

Tech Notes: Noisy bearing in supercharger pulley which has failed. Replaced SC pulley and flange.

most chirping from the 55 usually comes from one of the guide pulleys. get a can of pb blaster, and spray the pulleys one at a time till the chirping goes away. which ever pulley you sprayed last, thats the one they should replace.

DIY Replace the plastic tensioner pulley for the SC system and the main system. Cost about $40 each. Manually spin the rest of the pulleys to see if there is any noise. Replace any that are noisy. Replace the two belts.

Inspect old pulleys. If no cracks put those in your emergency parts box along with old belts. They will save you bacon if you are far from home and blow a belt. Keep box in trunk.

Had a chirping sound on both the SL600 and the S55, especially when the engine was cold. Replaced poly belts on both and sound disappeared each time. FWIW
Cheers,
Jeff
