Valve covers

I got my C63 AMG engine I bought from eBay today. This has the black plastic valve covers. This raises two questions:

1. Does this mean that the engine probably is 2010 or newer?

2. Can I fit the aluminum valve covers in stead if I'd like to polish them for a clean look? The engine is not going into a MB...

So I don't have to open up the engine to change the valve lifter nor the head bolts?

Can I verify the production year from the engine number?

Exactly.
And no need to check the production year.
MB EPC says clearly, up to which engine # you have to exchange certain parts.

Do you have the MB EPC? My engine number seems to be 60035425.
