Thermostat
Noticed my temp gauge reads between 80-95 degrees, when at 80-85 degres there is lots of good power available.
When doing the stop and go thing, temp goes to 90-95 degrees, thermostat seems to open at 95 to prevent the temps from climbing higher. There is a noticeable loss of power when this happens and tough to get the power back unless back on highway to bring temps down.
Any ideas on preventing this? Would a colder thermostat, say 85 degrees solve this problem?

No this vehicle is meant to run at these temps just fine, Sounds to me like your charge air coolant pump is bad. Its #1 sign of failure is loss of power when engine gets hot. Take a look, most the time you will have stored codes but no check engine light, get it scanned. code usually says charge air coolant circuit temp too high or something along those lines. If its bad and you replace it you will notice a big change in power when its hot and even when its still warming up.

However, there are no codes nor check engine light.
Power must have been down quite a bit with these temps.
