Drivers side Coil appears dead S600

I'm debating what to do. Last year I replaced the passenger coil and module to fix intermittent misfires on 2-3 different cylinders. This time however, The entire drivers side coil appears to be dead, I get codes for all cylinders on that side. The only thing unique, I changed the battery, washed the car, then drove it about 40-50 miles with a few stops. My wife drives it downtown and when she goes to get back in the car it has CEL on. no power. I scan it and low an behold its the drivers side coil showing misfire on the entire bank of cylinders. It has never been replaced as far as I know. I figured it would be intermittent, I didn't think all 6 cyl go bad at once.

I've already planned to order another one, but man, if it is something simple I'm going to be really pissed. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I would have thought the same thing... But its just that the car ran fine for so long, then the battery starts going and I replaced it, and the car runs fine for a little while that same day, (immediately after changing the battery), and then later that same day I get one side coil pack that goes bad???

I dunno, I'm the first to admit I have bad luck, but surely there is something I could try? Only reason I have doubt the coil is that I read another post where a guy was resetting his ECU or something by pulling the battery... It would then run for a little bit, then the coil goes bad again...

on mine it was an intermittent short in the ignition module, but more likely the coil pack.
