2003 CL600 Bi-Turbo auto box oil change capacity?

Hello

I'm currently renewing various fluids on the car.

The one left I'm wanting to change is the gearbox oil.

I have noticed there are a few different auto box codes for this model (according to Alldata DIY) and they can take different amount of fluids and some even take different types of auto trans oil (apparently!). How do I found out where the gearbox code is?

Can this be done without having to lift up the car or is it in the car documents?

The change of fluid seems relatively straight forward but just want take make sure I get the right fluid/capacity.

Thanks Alex

most probably the five speed tranny which takes different fluid than the 7 speed. your owners manuel should have capacity, etc. if all else fails measure the fluid coming out by putting it in bottles and refill with the same amount. there is a dipstick available to measure. you'll probably have oil retained in the torque converter so you'll probably need less fluid than what the manual suggests. best to check further. i'm no expert and don't want to give you the wrong advice.

I recently changed my trans oil and filter in my 05 CL600. It has the 5 speed (NAG1) like yours. I only got about 4.5 qts. from the drain. Mercedes recommends ATF 134 but I used ATF+4 with no problems. I'm not advocating ATF+4 but ATF 134 is hard to find unless you buy it online or from the dealer. I do recommend using a dipstick.

Hi

Thanks for your help i have found the capacity in the owners manual (us version doesnt state in uk one?)

I have been told i can use the TITAN ATF 4134 atf oil which is both resonable in price and very good quality.
