Cooler thermostat?

These engines run hot, even for mercedes. The v8 runs significantly cooler than the V12. They did this for emissions reasons, but it's not good for the engine.
Has anyone switched to a cooler thermostat? Where would one find one that fits?

How hot does it run? Mine stays at 97 degrees C in traffic and at around 80 on the highway

Usually a "cooler" thermostat does nothing for the high end. Yes, a 160 degree stat will open earlier than a 180 stat. But once they are both wide open, they don't do anything to lower the operating temp.

You sure it isn’t good for the engine to run at 190?

The engineers have have been at it a long time.

At 190 more fuel gets burned in the cylinder. Higher pressures. More torque. Less emissions.

Everything about the engine has been designed around running at 190.

There is plenty capacity in the radiator.

We ran lower temp thermostats in crappy old junk running carburetors with iffy cooling systems.
