Quite note when replacing ABC Hoses with custom rebuilds (Thermoplastic Fiber)
The particular hose that broke goes off the pump and into nothing: thus supposedly acting as an accumulator. The hose is NOT a traditional steel braided rubber hose but is instead a fiber hose with a plastic center. I found this unusual as other hoses in the system are traditional steel braided rubber, however upon doing further research I found fiber reinforced hoses with a plastic core can act as accumulators/pulsation dampeners.

It appears this is exactly what mercedes did for their 2002-2006 iterations of the m275, and know for a fact that's what Mercedes did for the hose that comes off the pump and appears to go nowhere.
Installation of an accumulator might be an alternative solution.
