For sale is my 2001 Mercedes Benz E 55 AMG. Hopefully if you're looking at this ad, you realize what a rare bird this is. I've owned this car for the last five years, and purchased it from the second owner in Beverly Hills California, who owned it since 2003 and purchased it when it had 22,000 miles. I have service records for the car from this point. The car has high miles. If that scares you, please don't read any further. If it doesn't, you might already know that the M113 motor is bulletproof when maintained. Mine has seen oil changes every 5000 miles with Mann filters and Mobile One 0W-40. I have modified and and updated the car to suit my driving style. It wears Bilstein Sport shocks. Akibono ceramic pads for low dust. Secondary catalytic converter delete, and an X pipe in the exhaust plumbing for a bit more tone. There are no check engine lights. The drivetrain runs perfectly, as it should, as plugs fluids and filters have all been changed regularly, with OEM specs or better. It does NOT consume any oil between oil changes. I have also upgraded the audio. I have the stock radio, but in the dash right now, is a Pioneer unit, with Bluetooth, iPad, and hands-free capability. The buttons on the steering wheel have retained their functionality, so this is as close to an OEM installation as possible, while allowing me to enjoy the sound from the Focal Audio components I have installed. The car has also been hardwired for a Valentine One detector. The detector is not included, but the hardwire comes with it. As far as maintenance goes, where do I begin. The air compressor has been replaced, the radiator has been replaced, the airflow meter has been replaced, the entire front suspension including control arms have been replaced, plug wires, coil packs, coolant tank, cabin filters... even the cup holder works perfectly, which in this model is an achievement. The brakes have been replaced. Price an OEM E55 front rotor for kicks- left and right have individual part numbers, and neither is inexpensive. My goal was to maintain this car to the original 155 mph standard. As a result, it steers, stops and accelerates as it did when new.
The car does have needs. The headliner is sagging in the back. It did so when I purchased it, and it does so by the same amount now five years later. I don't notice it during regular driving, but it is something to be aware of. There is some surface rust developing around the sunroof opening. It can be fixed by a diligent do it yourselfer , and some PUR. The car does have the orthopedic seat option, but the drivers seat bottom leather is cracked. All functions work. Heck, everything on the car still works. The power sunshade, the heated and cooled seats, the power mirrors... you get the idea. I upgraded the spare tire to a factory monoblock, in the 245 front tire size. I do have the original spare, as it goes with the car. The tires are fresh, but unfortunately they are not matching. I've got Yokohama's upfront and Kuhmos in the rear, but all four of them have over 85% tread. I'm sure I'm missing a lot of stuff, but at the end of the day, this is a sub $5000 car that does 0 to 60 in five seconds, carries a full contingent of airbags, can carry four and their luggage comfortably, and has a performance envelope that is better than about 80% of the cars on the road. My daughter was driving this, until I upgraded her to a 211 chassis E500. Look at the pictures, and know that I am not unfamiliar with Mercedes-Benz products. If you are going to purchase a high mileage Highline car, this might be the one to get your feet wet with. Please contact me if you have any questions. I'm not a dealer and this is my baby. I welcome any questions you may have about the car. Finally, I don't need help selling it, and if you wish to pay for it by check, and it is drawn off a Nigerian bank, I need to see a video of you with a live chicken doing the macerena prior to going any further. Check out my user profile. I have sold my 210 wagon and my 211 CDI on this board, both with happy buyers. Thanks for reading all of my ad. G50carerra at hotmail dot com
