Hey all, unfortunately my E has recently fallen victim of the fuel sending unit leak. I am hoping to save myself the $600 required to purchase the entire unit, by buying a used one off someone like you! The top hat is removable per bbirdwell's insight on my recent post but I would be happy to just buy the entire assembly as well.

Call up the dealership and see if it is covered in the extended warranty/ recall. They replaced mine for free but if you have a custom exhaust then they will charge labor fees to remove and install it. They will replace everything if it is covered since they drop the whole tank and pumps and replace it. Just make sure they use the correct pump wire adaptor or the fuel pump won't run correctly. The positives and negatives are swapped on the new pump compared to the old one. On my car they didn't but I swapped 2 of the pins and it runs fine.
