I've owned it for about 4 years. I'm looking for a new caretaker. If you are familiar with this chassis, please reach out. I am willing to negotiate. I"d love to see this vehicle make its way out of the rust belt. It's lived in the garage since I've owned it. I found it in a garage in Racine, Wisconsin and brought it back to New England. It hasn't seen precipitation or winter since I've owned it.
Check out the YouTube Video linked below. Enjoy!
Thanks for the reply and great question. The rust situation is very minimal overall. The floor boards are all solid and everything structural is near perfect.
The lower rear fenders will need some work (fabrication in my opinion would be respectable as it is really only the rocker boards left and right on the lower rear fenders. I'm not sure full panel replacement would be warranted. I did not want to fill with fiber glass. I decided to let the next caretaker do the right thing. I wish I could do more with this car. I care for it and want to find a suitable owner/situation. I want to be very straight forward with any perspective buyers. I love this car. It is not perfect and I've priced it with the hope that I can find someone that can put a little money into the car after I sign the title.
There are a few small blisters inside the driver and passenger side doors on the lower sills. I would be happy to roll her out tomorrow and provide close-up shots of the patina (really, not much more then that).
The engine block does also have some very minor surface rust, only because this thing doesn't **** oil all over the place (haha). The car has been in dry storage since I've owned it and for about 20 years prior.
compression is good, valve timing is good, valve cover gasket was replaced about 4 years ago and is still quite supple. pre-burn chambers, glo-plugs, and big old benz battery replaced as well. New belts too. I had to search for some bolts for Alternator tensioner and power-steering pump mounting. All in place and torqued and haven't ever had a problem with either.
Let me know how you'd like to proceed. Are you in the region? Thank you for your interest.
