Looking for an owner that will give this car the TLC it deserves.
Received this car in 2006 from my uncle
1978 Mercedes-Benz CD 300 Diesel engine
2 door coupe
No issues with starting after wire fix
3/2019 - replaced fuse and glow plugs
Had oil change, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter change.
I still drive this car everyday (albeit 10 miles round trip about 3 days/week) and it has 260k original miles on it. (Although was told by my uncle that a new engine was placed in 2006. No paperwork to confirm)
Major repairs in 2015- 2016
- Transmission replaced for reverse 2/12/15
- Valve body replaced 2/19/15
- Vacuum pump diaphragm replaced 2015
- rod assembly replaced
- Exhaust pipe mounted to muffler
General issues with car:
- Car has bit of oil leak
- Interior showing signs of wear (see pics)
- It has original paint but has some oxidation on roof and some signs of rust (see pics)
- Passenger side door inside lock missing
- left side hatch of hood not connected so difficult to close.
- windshield crack
I have a Clean California title asking 2500 or best offer.
W123 Hood Hinges
Both tend to break the latches, often the hinge pivots are dry and binding, easy to lubricate with thing machine oil, NEVER WD40 typ crap .
This is the same color as my 1984 300CD turbo, I had two NA coupes and they were fine once fettled .
Affordable Diesel Coupe
These coupes are a North American only thing, in Europe you had to settle for a 240CD.....
They had gassers of course .
I'm getting too old and broken down else I'd buy it, there are less of these every day so their value doesn't drop as fast as the Sedans do .
This one looks to need serious love but not total rebuilding so someone will get a good buy at this price .
