Holy depreciation, Batman! This is dollar dumping in the luxury vehicle category- the window sticker on this car was $150k; it lost over 75% of its value in just 15 years. For the money, this is a ton of car. With 493hp and 516lb-ft of torque, it does 0 to 60mph in just 4 seconds, mid 12 second quarter miles, and tips the scales at over 4,300 pounds. Not bad for a heifer! It’s like sliding an anvil down the concrete slope of Hoover dam…pretty impressive.
This SL55 was built on November 22nd, 2005 and sold new by Dana Motor Company/Mercedes-Benz of Cincinnati, Ohio on December 20th, 2005. It was ordered with the following factory options:

Parktronic
Active Ventilated Seats
Panorama Roof with Sunshade

Keyless Go
P030 AMG Performance Package:

19” AMG Multipiece Wheels
Limited Slip Differential

The MSRP was $149,445.
The first two owners lived in Ohio, where they only added 10k miles of fair weather driving in their 6 years of ownership. During that time, it was taken back to the selling dealership 7-times for routine services, including:
Regular oil services
Air injection pump replacement
10k mile service
Battery replacement
Brake fluid flushes
Valve cover gaskets replacement
It then migrated out to Southern California, when a Porsche 928 enthusiast friend of ours purchased it on September 19th, 2011, with 10,488 miles and an extended warranty. For the next 6 years, he used this SL as his daily driver, adding another 40k miles. During his ownership, he primarily serviced it at Mercedes-Benz of Anaheim, California. Highlights of services include:
Regular oil services and brake fluid flushes
Right side valve cover gaskets and transmission connector (5/12 @ 17,447 miles)
Air injection pump and relay (12/12 @ 23,088 miles)
Tightener pulley and guide pulley replaced (1/14 @ 35,222 miles)
ABC fluid flush and filter replacement (8/14 @ 41,614 miles)
Suspension work and services (2/09 @ 48,004 miles)
Engine mounts
Thrust arm bushings
Lower control arms and bushings
Crank position sensor
Software update
Left front ABC shock replaced
Four-wheel alignment
Check air suspension
The previous owner also installed a carbon fiber trunk lid spoiler.
This owner sold it to a close mutual friend, another 928 enthusiast. He bought the car on June 14th, 2017 with 52k miles. For the last 4 years/8k miles, the current owner used it mostly as a part-time daily driver and weekend car. He serviced it regularly at Fletcher Jones Mercedes. He installed Michelin Pilot Sport tires in 2018 at 55,606 miles.
This SL55 is in excellent condition, clearly not driven in bad weather and always garaged. The alabaster paint looks great with minimal signs of use. The majority of the paint is original. The current owner had some light touch up and blending on the right rear fender by the door where a grocery cart hit it. Visually, you can’t tell the difference. There is some slight delamination on the black filler part of the rear glass. The rest of the glass looks great with no major chips or scratches and are wearing the proper factory stampings. The wheels are in good shape with a couple small areas of light curb rash. They are wearing near full tread Michelin tires. The brakes appear to have around 75% of their lifetime remaining.
The interior is equally as nice, and indicative of the proper care this SL received. The leather surfaces have no tears or rips and hardly any signs of wear. There are also no stains. The headliner looks fresh. The carpet has no excessive wear marks or stains. The door panels are in good shape. The dash is perfect. All the gauges, buttons, switches, and other controls all work properly. The A/C blows cold. The updated Bluetooth radio works great and easily connects to your mobile device.
This SL builds power so smoothly, but at an incredible rate. The steering wheel shifting is easy and fairly direct. The engine feels strong throughout the rev range. The brakes have an excellent bite with no fading or pulling. The steering is tight and handling is responsive. The car tracks straight and nicely handles uneven surfaces. This example could easily be used daily, as well as for long weekend wine country trips. Monterey car week is around the corner and this would be a mighty pleasant way to go if your Gulfstream G6 is out for service.
California registration is paid through September of 2021 and it passes our strict smog test.
This SL55 AMG comes with 2 keys, owner’s manuals with vinyl cover, many recent receipts, Mercedes first aid kit, original radio (doesn’t work), cargo nets, factory tool kit, tire compressor, jack, and tire changing gloves.
