M156s prior to 2011 are seriously impacted by the headbolt issue.
On a different note, the seller is NOT obligated to check for those issues - the buyer can ask the question and decide based on the answer.

Unfortunately, the headbolt and the cam sensor leakage issues are not overhyped, and the cost to repair those is significant.
M156s prior to 2011 are seriously impacted by the headbolt issue.
On a different note, the seller is NOT obligated to check for those issues - the buyer can ask the question and decide based on the answer.

My wholesale cost for 20 head bolts, as of October 2018 when I almost bought a 2008 CLK63 AMG Black Series, was just under $1,000. In addition, there was a camshaft issue in that the camshafts were made of a softer metal than the valve top hats and, consequently, this rounded the ends of the camshafts and the variable valve timing was physically altered requiring replacing the four (4) camshafts at a dealer cost of nearly $5,000 exclusive of labor. The total quote to replace head bolts and camshafts was nearly $10,000.

- 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG: This model has a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V-8 engine.
- 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series: This model has a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that's upgraded with a dual-intake manifold, reprogrammed software, and a low-restriction sport exhaust. The Black Series engine produces 500 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque.
