Description:
The C124 is a continuation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe and brought with it is the classic 90’s Bruno Sacco styling featuring a true pillarless design with all four windows rolling down. On the outside, this 300CE is a near clone of the legendary AMG Hammer and features an authentic AMG body kit and Aero 1 wheels. The aggressive front and rear bumpers and side skirts, iconic three-piece trunk lid spoiler and AMG monoblock wheels embody what the 80's tuning culture was all about. With pre-merger AMG prices skyrocketing, for many, the thought of owning one is now out of reach. This example offers a perfect opportunity for an AMG enthusiast to own and appreciate the outstanding design which came from AMG and comes with the huge benefit of a 5-speed manual gearbox. To be able to row through gears with the ultimate style, this C124 offers enormous value for anyone looking for a piece of automotive design that can be enjoyed and driven day in and day out.
This 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300CE was originally built at the Mannheim Branch in Germany for the Spanish market. The car was imported to the United States in February 2021 before being acquired by the seller in July 2021. Finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) over Anthracite Leather (271), power is provided by a 3.0-liter inline-six engine paired to a 5-speed manual transmission with LSD (limited-slip differential). Recent service includes a suspension refresh with new Bilstein shocks and H&R lowering springs, new Michelin tires, new spark plugs, injectors, fuel filter, front brakes and air filter. Features include authentic AMG Aero 1 wheels, a first generation AMG body kit, stainless steel exhaust, automatic climate control, power front seats, a power sunroof, electric rear roller blind (not working) and a Blaupunkt head unit. This C124 currently shows 192k kilometers (~120k miles) on the odometer and is offered in Brentwood, TN with recent service records, manufacturer's literature, two original keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Tennessee title. It runs great and fun to drive.
Recently installed a new stereo system that consists of: Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB head unit, (2) 12 inch subs by morel with custom box in trunk complete with AMG logo and all factory speakers replaced with Morel speakers
New Bilstein shocks and H&R lowering springs on all four corners
Ceramic tint freshly installed all around
New front brake pads and rotors (there was a small intermittent squeal so we replaced everything)
Hood and front fenders recently professionally resprayed by a highly regarded specialty paint shop in Nashville (Eazy repair and detail) and it looks amazing. There were significant rock chips on the hood and the paint was tired so the respray makes it look almost new.
This 300CE has authentic 17" AMG Aero 1 wheels which were recently professionally refinished.
NOTE: I had originally intended to do an engine conversion with https://www.kwiekclassics.com in Nashville, TN. This would replace the existing motor with 5.4L M113 motor and would drastically change the car to be more of what it looks like - an AMG. This car has been on the waiting list since June of 2023 and should be ready to go in for the 6 week process in the next month or two. If buyer wants to do this you can keep the place in line but would need to pay a 4K deposit to do so. I can discuss process and cost with you if this is of interest. Not required as part of the sale in any way but a nice option of someone so desires with almost no wait at this point…that was my plan but too many other projects on the table so I am not doing this one now.
I actually planned to keep this car for a long time since I grew up loving this specific model but life happens and priorities change so I am reluctantly selling this one. I absolutely love this car and it gets mad attention everywhere it goes. It’s a true classic beauty and offers a lot of fun as is plus brings opportunities to customize it even further. Here is the link from MB Market when I bought it that has a ton of detail. https://thembmarket.com/1989-mercede...-300ce-1#close The guy I bought it from restored it and is a class act full of knowledge with a ton of experience buying and restoring these cars.
Car has been garaged the entire time I have owned it and I have had it professionally detailed so it’s ready to go. I may have driven it 200 miles max since I've had it. The rear sun shade is the only thing that does not work on this vehicle. I am sure it can be repaired but I have not had it done because I don't ever use it anyways.
UPDATED PRICE: $40,000
PM me with questions and I am happy to discuss.
