Question Do You Like The Maybach????

It seems that people are questioning the Maybach's exterior styling (from germancarfans). People are saying that it's bland, ugly, looks like a Hyundai, etc. What do you all think? I truely think it's 100% ugly on the outside and it's a real disapointment!

As far as exterior styling, it is OK, nothing great.

As far as the rest (interior, engine, acceleration, etc) it is great!

Styling

The exterior of the car is bland. Honestly, it's hard to make a land yacht like a Maybach look elegant or even beautiful, and it is neither.

It's not really like a Hyundai or anything else, just an amalgam of all bland designs I've seen before, a sort of pastiche of a blancmange

The only thing impressive about the appearance of the car is its MASSIVE size, this thing makes a 1974 Caddy Sedan DeVille look like a puddle jumper.

Yes, the new Roller is ugly, but at least it's distinctive and demands attention due to its imposing road presence. A better job than the M-B, I think.

I have seen some very pretty large show cars such as the Pininfarina Nautilus (it's a shame that Peugeot did not build it), so it can be done.

Why M-B did not go to an outside design house such as Pininfarina (my favourite), Bertone, Ital Design etc for the Maybach is beyond me.

When creating a new marque (which the Maybach essentially is; let's face it, it has zero in common with the ur-Maybach), a distinctive brand identity is required. To me, the Maybach looks like the obese, uglier brother of the S-Class. Clearly it was done by M-B stylists. In this case, it's not a good thing.

interior does look awesome although has been criticism that too many parts have been share with the S class etc.

Can you argue that the lwb version is worth like 2.5 S600;s??

Exterior especially the front looks like a Hyundai...
