Sprinter 616 - 722.6 auto transmission maintenance

Dear members,

I recently bought a secondhand Carthago M-liner RV, which was assembled on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis, with the below specifications:
  • Type: Sprinter 616 (616 4X2 4025)
  • MAM: 5.995kg
  • Chassis YOC: 11/2004
  • RV body YOC: 01/2005
  • Engine type: 612.9 (612981 50 97169)
  • Transmission type: 722.6 (722681 05 70703)
  • Kilometers: +90K
The prior owner gave me 2 large folders with "presumably" all invoices for the maintenance and modification work that was carried out. The kilometers and date of the various invoices indicate that the kilometers on the counter are correct.

However, I found no mention of automated transmission maintenance. Because the Sprinter is 20 years old, I'd like to change the transmission oil and filter. In addition to the usual transmission oil change kit, which items should I replace preventive?

Given that this is my first automatic transmission activity, I'd like to get advice from the "722.6 transmission gurus" on what to buy and what to watch out for.

Thank you in advance, Jef.

Dear Members,

At different forums, there is a wealth of useful information on how to resolve 722.6 transmission difficulties.

As I said in my thread, I have 2 binders full of maintenance records for the MS Sprinter, but none for the 722.6 transmission.

Because the transmission is roughly 20 years old, I'd like to know ahead of time what spares I should have on hand to do the task properly.

Hence, a question for the Moderator, should/could I relocate this thread to a forum more focussed on 722.6 transmissions? If so, what forum would you recommend?

Thanks, Jef
