Given the parking in NYC, I think you want a great interior with a compact exterior. Any of the Q5, GLK, or X3 would be fine, but I think you probably want the most suspension travel and best managed impact harshness, and that might be the Benz, as the least "sporty". Grand Cherokee is a great choice, as the exterior package is manageable, it's essentially an M-Class platform, and i can help with a corporate discount from my days as a Chrysler exec. But, the GC diesel is quite pricey....the Pentastar V6 may be plenty on the BQE! Whatever you get.....tall tire sidewalls and small wheels are the answer!! You don't want to bounce off the Gowanus into the canal!!(2 of 2 messages)

All fine here except we are getting another 3" of snow tonight.....in the middle of g-d APRIL!! Anyway, definitely can relate to the pothole blues...the roads are somewhere between the surface of the moon and an old cobblestone street (where they "patched"). Not much fun either way. I'm not sure I would get something with short suspension travel in your situation, unless it had a great air suspension option. You need something with lots of travel. My daughter just bought a Volvo XC60 T6....not a sexy name, but a very nice ride and feels great to drive. No problem with road surfaces in that SUV. Most other SUVs will do similar. My son is enjoying a BMW X1 in Ohio, but as you left that off the list, you might think its too small? From what friends tell me, diesel is not an easy find around NYC, and the break-even for the extra cost of the engine purchase may be several years....really worth it to you? (1 of 2 messages)

OMG yesterday I felt like my heart dropped. Exiting a highway exit, an un-seen huge pothole almost destroyed my passenger front tire.

I was considering selling my car and doing a short-term lease on a Cadillac ATS or perhaps going with their 0% 72 months APR | $3,000 incentives being offered, btw CTS V-Sport is to drool for!

But I am just sick everyday anywhere new or old, potholes are appearing or just not being fixed. I don't know if it will be any better with the SUV but I've been trying to compare the overall best bang for the bucks AUDI Q5 TDI, MB GLK BlueTec and now BMW X3 28d. Since they're small and diesel. But also looked at my favorite GC EcoDiesel, looked at VW Touareg TDI R-Line.

Ugh need some guidance lol, the smaller suv fully loaded go for the same price as the GC fully loaded and VW loaded.

After driving 300 miles round trip this weekend, I have decided this will be my last car. I will be looking at the BMW X3 or Jeep Grand Cherokee for sure. Going to see how much I can sell privately or trade-in appraisal price for my 2011 MB C300 4Matic w/ 10,000 miles.

Yea heard/saw so many reviews on the 2013+ GC but most especially on the SRT8 Grand Cherokee vs Porsche Cayenne GTS vs BMW X5 M ... Then also 2013+ GC EcoDiesel Engine, V6 and V8 vs other competitors such as RangeRover all which cost more, provide the same features but GC being the overall winner.

I will definitely be on the lookout and seeing what I should do whether to buy or lease too.
Def gotta go test drive the Mazda3, GC 14, and A3 .. I actually just found a 2013 Audi Q5 Hybrid for $44k with 6k miles looks interesting but I think I am done with Premium Gas Prices :-D

I have not driven the GC diesel, so I would need to look for the same magazine/online reviews as anyone else. I left Chrysler in 2008. My kids and I had several GCs as company cars over the years and loved them. I know the rest of the current generation vehicle is excellent and a platform mate with the Mercedes M Class, but the pricing is much friendlier. All I can suggest is the usual, "drive it" advice!

Sounds great to me, my uncle has a Cherokee Laredo I believe definitely over 80k miles truck is from the 2000.
Whats your input on the Grand Cherokee 2014? EcoDiesel , preferably the Overland/Summit model.

Liberty is great for what it is....our "tugboat". When its time to pull our motorboat/trailer, it's perfect. We use it as a dog hauler and for short trips/grocery store, etc. to spare the Benzes from the harm of short trips/on/off cold engine, etc. Since 2009, it's only needed a window switch replaced. A bit thirsty, but we love it for what it is...

Thanks for the article read it, yeah not impressed by the CLA 250, was looking at the CLA 45 AMG but no good rates or deals at the moment.

I still suspect the CLA would of been too small for me too, I was initially sold on the Cadillac ATS 2.0L Premium AWD but the $3,000 incentives they were offering at the end of the summer for a 50k car didn't quite convince me, so I got my current C300 cash. But car is not exciting sure its a Benz and it speaks for itself.

I saw some more Mazda3 reviews and its definitely the best in its class. My cousin does have a 2004-05 I believe with over 100k miles now he's had it for the last 5yrs great handling fast efficient car. But this new one is finally up to date. With the price of these cars the Grand Cherokee looks even better and better. How's your liberty ?
