I installed a brand new G55 cluster. Its plug and play but you will need to have someone program it so odometer shows correct milage and so fuel gauge works.
Have not done it on my car, cant find anyone local.
I still drive it as is, doesn't bother me that much.

hey quick question, I seen you installed a the newer cluster in your G. Was it plug and play? Or any program if needed, I seen some on eBay the past couple months for sale, my car is g55 2005, would I need a amg cluster?

The sunroof that I installed was removed from Mercedes W140.
I would do it again. It was a bit of a hassle, but I think it was not as bad and worth it.

Just keep in mind to take your time and that there is a chance that you might get a crease (or small buckle) in the roof when you will be pushing the front end of the sunroof opening up (to giving it a curve).
When I did mine, I ended up with a small little dent, which was repaired and was not a big deal since the entire car was being repainted.

I took my time and slowly was pushing it up for 2 days, leaving it under tension overnight, etc...'

if you were to do it over again, would you install the glass sunroof assembly from Mercedes W140, or did it end up as a hassle?
I would be installing on a g550 2015
