Cranckshaft Position Sensor Help!

I've done a bit of searching and maybe I didn't go back far enough but can anyone point me to a DIY to R&R the crankshaft position sensor for a V8?
I saw tons of threads for the ML320 but no V8.
I did have one additional question. I'm assuming that when the CPS goes bad it does not always throw a code? Correct?
Thanks!

The CPS is in the same location on the V8 as it is on the V6, you just have less room to work

You are correct that it doesn't always throw a code. Ours started with a failure to do a couple hot restarts, but it did throw a code the second time. I bought the sensor, but thought I had more time to replace it. It completely failed just a few days later. Took 20 minutes to replace. Now runs better than it has in a long time and fuel mileage is up about 10% as well.

Thanks for the reply.
How did you manage to do it in 20 min???
I just finished changing mine out and it took me about two hours from the fender area.

Yes it does throw a code (P0335) but it doesn't illuminate the CEL. No one checks the codes because the CEL is not lit.

I laid on top of the engine basically, lol. I've always had a special talent for working on things I can't actually see. Once I knew where it was and how it was oriented, "seeing" it with my fingers was good enough. That being said, there's more room with the V6 from what I understand. Never had to do this job with our old 430.
