Owned a 2002 ml500, vehicle shutoff when comming to a stop, restart then repeat at the next stop. Change fuel filter before this problem, change crankshaft position sensor after this problem, nothing changed. NEED SOME ADVISE !!
Usually this problem is attributed to a faulty CKP (Crankshaft Position Sensor) which he already replaced. But he has not responded to your question of whether the CEL is on or not.
Regardless, a code (P0335) will be stored. Possibly he purchased a knock-off sensor which will be useless.

Hey guys, sorry for not responding earlier on that shutoff problems. At the time of the shutoff problems no CEL was on. However, I change the trottle cable today, take the car for a spin and the CEL is on but the suv is not shutting off anymore. I wonder if the trottle cable was the problems. The dealer did a diagnostic about 2 months back and stated the trottle cable broken and need replacement, but I went on road trips from Houston to Chicago and also to Florida and no problems. When I change the trottle cable I do not see anything broken, but then I am not an expert. I will check out the code on the CEL in the coming days. The dealer also recommend to change the filter pump also, I might just go ahead and change pumps anyway. I need some help on the easy way to change the fuel pump. Thanks for the respond guys !!
