Facelifted W205/C205 Will Have All Digital Instrumentation
Not super new news, but I'm still very excited about this. Having the borrowed S-Class instrument cluster will make the interior even better.
Interestingly, this will be an option for base models, but I imagine on top-spec 63S AMG models, this should come as standard.
I never truly warmed up to the floating infotainment screen.....

Weird, I quite like the W222's digital instrumentation. Am I the only one?
A lot of existing vehicles have this tech, and I like it a lot.

I prefer gauges like my watches - analog. Something about seeing a physical needle sweeping and a nicely designed gauge face is much more satisfying and beautiful than a screen with no depth. You can fake design with graphics, but it's not the same sensation. Besides, I don't think a digital instrument cluster would necessarily replace the primary infotainment screen. They could better integrate it like the S-Class, but then the dash is dominated by glossy screens.
It's the same reason I like that analog IWC clock on the dash so much - if it was digital, it wouldn't have the same effect.

Hmmm, interesting one and not exactly sure what to make of it but seeing I'm purposely waiting for the mid life update for the new 205 series before I pull the trigger on one and that's what it will have, I'll have to go and check out the S Class interior more closely and see if the digital cluster grabs or at least grows on me, this is exciting though to know from so early on that there'll be these kinds of advancements down the track with the new C Class hopefully there'll be some nicer exterior styling as well and quality issues sorted
Audi models are now also incorporating more and more digital dash displays so could become a common item across the board.
Quick question for the immediate moment if anyone knows - do the digital gauges on the S Class offer different display modes or set on one type of graphical display only ?? would be cool if they have multiple or different graphics display options
