Wheel Shortage

Finally got my production date for my Lunar Blue-3rd week October. As I was first (according to my dealer) to place an order, I do not know why I got a late October build for a non S, but such is life. My SA tells me that the factory is out of 19-inch AMG cross-spoke forged (Black) wheels, which was part of my master plan with the lunar blue and the night styling package. So the question is, anyone else hear that the Black wheels are not available til the end of the year? And the next question, would you get the 19-inch AMG cross-spoke forged (titanium) and just powder coat them to look the same as the factory black? Any input much appreciated.

I had Black forged wheels as well, and confirmed that I got them, but I was 1st Decade (8August) build date. When I first heard about this issue, I called my dealer. They said that it won't affect me because I am one of the first MY16 orders, but anyone past 1st decade was most likely getting delayed.

All C63's start out life as an S-model. Before the car goes into production, someone can order one to be specifically a non S-model. This means that the car that was planned to go into production needed to be "d-tec"ed as they call it and have the performance package removed. This needs to be planned out significantly in advance, hence why you have a late build, and most likely no one had ordered a vanilla C63 at your specific dealership.

I know this first hand because the car I originally built was denied a d-tec because I hadn't requested it early enough. Apparently there were only 3 vanilla C63's at the time allocated to the entire US.

As for the wheels, I was told the same thing. My original build was supposed to finished 2nd decade September, but upon requesting for a late October build date, I was told that the wheels would be out of stock at that time. We finally worked it out, and I was able to secure a 2D October build on a C63S with the black wheels.

Larvid,

It is all when you put money down for your deposit. I ordered my MY16 on 5-25 and at the time the factor did have the black wheels. My car is actually very similar to what you ordered. Lunar, Black Wheels, Night Styling. My is currently in transit and should be to the dealer in the next 10-15 days.

Don't settle for a non-S over wheels or time frame!!

Get the S and be done with it!

I completely agree with Peter.
Do you know what you miss with a non S car?
Of course the HP and TQ and Electronic Diff.
19 in wheels std.
Race mode and higher top speed
Performance steering wheel std.
Red calipers std.
Larger front brakes
Dynamic engine mounts
Leather std.
Black ash std.
unique body and interior changes
what else am I forgetting?

I priced my build and it was only $4500 more and many of the items can't be added to a non S car.

go for it

I'm wanting a non-S since I absolutely don't want red calipers or the Dinamica steering wheel. Two things I want are the saddle brown designo interior and the 360 degree surround view, so I'll hold off on ordering for a bit longer.

The S gets priority wrt delivery (incl. favorite stock wheels).
Get the S, if the extra budget is feasible.
