I once owned a Lexus RCF and they gave me a ES 350 as a loaner while in service.
So I am drivning on the interstate and I go under an overpass and BOOM!!!
At first I thought I blew a tire and as I looked in the rear view mirror I saw stuff flying all around so I pull over.
After checking my tires I get back in the car and as I begin to drive off I hear all this wind noise and stop...it was the glass from the sun roof. It had shattered!
A HWY Patrol pulls up and ask me what was wrong and when I told him what happened he surmised that someone threw something off the overpass...said he had seen this before...WTF!!!
I was driving on a beltway a few years ago. Two lane. I was in the left lane and slowly overtaking a "church van" (extended rear on a Chevy van with lots of windows). Just as I came up next to them, the rear window popped open. It was stopped by the two hinges mounted at the bottom. But the glass shattered in a million pieces and attacked my car. Kinda like a pyrex dish when you drop one. It goes off like a bomb.
All over the front of my absolutely cherry '09 Shelby GT500. Some of the glass splinters embedded themselves into the hood paint. I know this since when I ran my hand over the area, I got cut.
