McLaren sack jet rage mechanic

McLaren mechanic Vincent Mallett has been fired by the elite Woking based team, after an air rage incident on a packed flight from the Thai resort of Phuket.
The 30-year-old is alleged to have slapped other passengers, thrown ice cubes around the cabin and threatened to open a rear door whilst the plane was in the air.

Cabin crew struggled to restore order during Mallett's drunken binge, which resulted in the pilot jettisoning 33 tons of aviation fuel, worth £20,000, and returning to Bangkok, Thailand.

A spokesman for Thai Airlines International told English newspaper the Sun: "He had been drinking whisky. He started to slap the faces and heads of other passengers and made a loud noise, scaring people. Then he entered the galley for more drinks and threw ice cubes. It took crew 30 minutes to handcuff him."

Mallett was arrested when the plane touched down in Bangkok. Still drunk, he pulled faces while police took his mugshot. He escaped charges when the airline was reimbursed with his £20,000 fine.

He was left in a Bangkok jail overnight, whist other passengers had to wait four and a half hours for the plane to be refuelled.

Mallett returned to work at McLaren, but his contract was terminated once the team learnt of his actions.

That's some weird behavior, even if he was drunk.

Should've Jailed the Drunk SOB

It's unbelieveable that somone so "visible" can be so arrogant - threaten to open the rear door while the plane is in flight??? WTF is his problem?? He's lucky to get away. His mechanic *** should've been in jail for a long time. He cost everyone way more than 20K pounds (don't have the darn pound sign on my keyboard) and he should thank his sorry *** to have gotten away. He should issue a public apology for this. Then again, maybe he was just having a bad day, punk!!!
